XML is an excellent language for defining the content of complex technical documents such as test requirements and interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs). Many industries have realized the importance of XML and have generated XML schemas (content guidelines) which precisely define the content of documents for their industry. However, adoption of these standards is slow because existing editors do not support creating and maintaining complex XML content in an intuitive fashion.

J3S has developed a toolkit that supports creating XML editors, with features specifically focused on complex technical content. We have customized that toolkit for editing test requirements documents for an existing customer, and are in the process of refining the toolkit to support arbitrary XML schemas and to ease the process of customizing the interface for other schemas.

This effort contributes to the test system work, and strongly ties in with our development of XML standards, both internally and as part of the Object Management Group (OMG). If you would like information on this project, please contact us at: j3s@j3s.us
